HALF MOON BAY

HALF MOON BAY – The bay is rocky for swimming but has excellent snorkeling as the reef is very close to shore.  You will see all kinds of beautiful fish and perhaps a turtle.

Enjoy a meal with your feet in the sand at the famous and unforgettable La Buena Vida Akumal!  A great stop to access Half Moon Bay and from the restaurant/bar  you can use their facilities and pool. Happy Hour is daily from 5:00 – 6:00 with half price drinks.  The food is hit or miss but the atmosphere is fantastic.  They have a children’s menu but you have to ask for it. It can get very crowded during happy hour and dinner, especially if you want to sit on the beach (which of course you do).

There are a few tourist shops, small grocery stores and great restaurants like Turtle Bay Cafe, La Cueva de Pescador & Taverna. There is also the Hekab Be Bibliotheca (library), which works with the local children, offering them free classes and activities. You can go there as a tourist and purchase a book for about $2 USD and the proceeds support this charity.
